Intro Episode | The Bat Saving Teenage Lives in the Year 2000 and Beyond

Our very first episode!

We’re calling it our “Intro Episode,” because for our first official episode, we likely have a huge name in Beyond comics coming on the show. But, we still wanted to get this out there and pump everyone up for the ONLY podcast devoted entirely to Batman Beyond.

Click below for our “Intro Episode.” Above and Batman Beyond is AVAILABLE ON SOUNDCLOUD, BATMANBEYONDPODCAST.COM, and here at COMICBOOKINTL.COM

PARTIAL TRANSCRIPTION OF TODAY’S EPISODE

Welcome, Neo Gothamites to Above and Beyond: The ONLY podcast devoted entirely to Batman Beyond. My name is Benjamin David, your schway host and Managing Editor here at ComicBookIntl.com. You’re listening to the very first casting, the Intro Episode as we are calling it, to our brand new podcast: Above and Beyond. As the title of the today’s episode suggests, we are mostly just introducing everyone to what our show will be like and what it means to me personally, your host, Benjamin David. You might know me from our other podcast, Geek News Bat News: A Batman Podcast. This makes it official! ComicBookIntl.com now has a podcast network! Yes! You can find Geek News Bat News on iTunes, SoundCloud, PodBean, and GeekNewsBatNews.com. And, of course, here at ComicBookIntl.com, along with the show you’re listening to now. Oh, and don’t forget, beside iTunes and SoundCloud, you can also find Above and Batman Beyond at our very own website: BatmanBeyondPodcast.com.

Anyway, I figured, no matter how big the names we get for interviews, you’re gonna still have to listen to me every episode. So, you might as well know now, how much the iteration of Batman Beyond means to me. This is the idea behind doing an intro episode. I thought this would give a good backstory as to why I would start such a podcast in the first place.

But, before we get to me crying into the microphone about cartoons, I did want to talk about the format of the show for a minute. For our official first episode of the show, I plan to interview a heavy Batman Beyond hitter over at DC Comics. I can’t say for sure yet, but I can say that this person and I have been in email contact for several weeks now nailing down a time to talk. But, that is  the plan for episode 1. Keep your Beyond ears open for that!

After Episode 1, I will continue spending as much time as I can finding more people to interview from the world of Beyond. From the animated series, to the movies, to the comics, the list of amazing talent responsible for Batman Beyond over the years is extensive. If there are periods of time where no interviews are possible, there are still plenty of new and old comic issues and episodes from the animated series for us to cover. We could do commentary tracks, breakdowns, reviews. I also spoke with my cousin, Jeff about coming on the show. My own flesh and blood said he would be interested in coming on as a recurring guest to talk about his interest growing up with the Batman Beyond cartoon and then the more recent comics. Every month, we get a new Rebirth issue of Beyond from DC too, so that right there is something to constantly talk about. I’m also going to do a toy segment, hunting down new and old toys from the Beyond ‘verse.

Again, today is our intro episode, so I’m going to read you a recent post I wrote for ComicBookIntl.com. I deliberately held back reading this piece on our Geek News Bat News show, because I wanted to read it for this very intro episode you’re listening to. The post is about my own personal history with Batman Beyond and how important it was–and still is–to a much younger me during a much rougher time in my life.

So, here is my post to ComicBookIntl.com. It’s titled Batman Beyond Rebirth Comics | The Bat Saving Teenage Lives in the Year 2000 and Beyond. If you like what you hear today, you can find more of my writing at ComicBookIntl.com.

CLOSING

And, that is it for today’s intro episode of Above and Batman Beyond: The Only Podcast devoted entirely to Batman Beyond. Again, today was just our intro episode. Our first official episode will be an interview with a huge contributor to Batman Beyond comics over at DC. He who shall not yet be named, and I, have been in contact to nail down a time to talk about his work with Batman Beyond. Do NOT miss that episode by NOT subscribing to the show.

Which brings me to my next point: If you haven’t already, please subscribe to the show on iTunes and give us a quick 5 star review. Just search for Above and Batman Beyond in your podcast app and tap “Reviews.”  It really only takes a few seconds, and then those little stars go a long way to helping us keep the show going. 5 star reviews allow us to continue bringing you all this rich Batman Beyond coverage, interviews with creators in the business of Batman Beyond, other special guests, and writers like me.
